NetworkXpress Meeting - Tuesday 9th November 2010

Another lively meeting of NetworkXpress was held on the 9th November at Devonshire Business Centre where guests were entertained by a though provoking talk delivered by Helen Winder. Helen used the innovative approach of examining the preparation required by a singer to give a good vocal performance and demonstrated how we can relax our vocal cords, find the right (natural) pitch and volume to make a good verbal impression when networking face-to-face. There were some interesting exercises for participants stopping just short of asking everyone to sing 'Doe, ray me'! Helen also left people with these useful and simple tips:

Try some sinple relaxation exercise before an important pitch or networking event - 'shake out' your body somewhere in private for 15-30 seconds.

• Focus on breathing from your tummy area not your chest to calm your breathing.
• Narrow down your business offering - don't deliver a catalogue list of what you do.
• Rotate your focus offering at different events on different dates in case the same people are present.
